Columbia River Gorge

From stunning vistas, dozens of waterfalls, inspiring hikes and epic water sport adventures, this largest National Scenic Area in America is a must travel destination.

Must See & Do

Crown Point – From this 733 foot point, take in awe-inspiring scenery of the mighty Columbia as it cuts through the Cascade mountains. Crown Point is the remains of the lava flow that filled that ancestral channel of the Columbia River over 14 millions years ago. At Vista House observatory and museum explore educational exhibits and displays. Be sure to bring your bike as this area is bike friendly.

Historic Columbia River Highway – Built through the Columbia River Gorge, this 74-mile long scenic highway is lined with dozens of waterfalls (including the famous Multnomah Falls), astounding views from the tops of cliffs, and magnificent wildflower displays during the spring.

Multnomah Falls – Experience the tallest waterfall of the Columbia River Gorge. Every season offers spectacular beauty. During Autumn, gold maples frame the cliffs. In the winter, seasonal rains create booming waterfalls. Springtime is when the waterfall is at its maximum volume due to the combination of snowmelt and heavy rains. Wildflowers cover the landscape on nearby trails through the summer season.

Hood River – This small town and port on the Columbia is known as the windsurfing capital in the world. Paddle boarding and kayaking are also must water adventures.

Craft Beer / Farm-Fresh Dining / Award-Winning Wine – The Gorge is a mecca for amazing micro breweries, locally sourced cuisine, and world class wine – from pinot noir and chardonnay in the cool western hills, to tempranillo and syrah in the sunnier east.
